Help Confirm Reports

Reports (for example, here) are that enrollment in the Apostolic Schools of the Legion of Christ, at least in the US, has dropped by 50%. Any more information out there?

The drop in enrollment may not be the only problem for LC schools, if they are losing paying customers. Some families are subsidized by the generosity of benefactors. The financial load to committed benefactors will grow as paying customers leave.

This is happening at a time when the contributions to RC Economies is likely dropping - partly because people are leaving or going inactive, and partly because donations drop as people adopt a "wait and see" position before making their usual financial contributions. No one wants to contribute to a sinking ship.

This creates more pressure on the committed RC donors to support both the schools as well as the day to day bills of a RC section.

It's about time! What parent in their right mind would allow their son to go to one of the Legion's apostolic schools?

Very misinformed parents! No one should even touch that place with a 10ft pole.

I "escaped" from ICAS 9 years ago, and recently discovered the facebook group for former students. Someone responded to a post for information yesterday saying that David Steffy is still in charge out there and that they are going ahead with about 50 students. I don't recognize the name of the person who responded, if anyone's interested I can send that in to landon and see what he finds.
