A source within the Legion has confirmed that 23 Legionary Priests are about to separate from the Legion to form a new relgious group. 15 of the Priests are Amercians. Fr. Alvaro has asked them not to take any action until the Vatican publishes its findings. The Legion is not answering quesitons on the subject, but one of the 23 priests has leaked the departure of the group.
What good would it do for them to wait for the Vatican to publish its findings? They have their reasons, which I'm sure are valid and prayerfully considered. Why doesn't Fr Alvaro support their decision and offer prayers and blessings?
Does "anonymous" know if this new group has a particular charism? Stated mission?

Anonymous II...I agree that there are many valid reasons for leaving LC before the Visitation. Not only them, but as you all know, Fr. Berg also left recently. Fr. Álvaro just wants to contain the damage and prevent any massive leave of priests during the Visitations. It seems that he doesn't want to give the impression that passengers are leaving the boat because they know it's going to sink. And, by giving his blessings to this new religious group, it would be like saying to others "You too can go.", and that is not like the Legion, right?.
As I see it, they are just a group of "dissenters" still. But probably, they will set up some kind of web site and organization later on. Then, we will now in concrete what are the characteristics of this new religious community. Something like the basics of Legionary life (conservadurism, blessed sacrament, REAL apostolic groups) without the cultic characteristics, Nuestro Fraude (Maciel) and the senseless recruiting drives.
Let's just pray and hope for the best. Fr. Álvaro, your days are counted.

Still LC too. Esto se está deshaciendo, pero creo importante esperar y ver lo que dice el Papa. Espero que la refundación y las nuevas líneas y directrices nazcan de él. Si él no tuviese claro todo lo que está pasando no hubiese actuado como lo ha hecho en los últimos años. Son pasos lentos para nosotros pero rápidos para la Santa Sede. Esperemos y veremos la solución. Refundados y desde Cristo, desde la verdad. Ahora es el momento de hablar. El Papa lo quiere.
I would love to know the names of LCs who are leaving. it is a very bold and brave move. As an RC who left the movement, it was difficult enough for me, but prayerfully discerned. Depending on who leaves and the planned mission, it is possible I would be willing to support them in establishing themselves in a new group.

Herman@ Still LC too, espero así sea. A mi parecer, el Papa ha seleccionado a los visitadores muy cuidadosamente, especialmente al Arzobispo Chaput. Rezo para que esta refundación sea como Dios quiere.
Estoy seguro que Dios quiere que los Legionarios hagan Su Voluntad, y solo eso. El movimiento como vasija rota que es tiene que dejarse formar por el Alfarero. Como has dicho, el Papa lo quiere, y Dios también quiere y necesita de hombres comprometidos a la salvación de almas, no por un número ni el favor humano, sino por Cristo. Los dejo con una frase que me ha dicho un compañero sacerdote...

Pienso exactamente igual. Creo que bastantes de nosotros vamos a hablar claro, aunque entre nosotros nadie hable o se ponga de acuerdo. Van a ser más de los que creemos. Un hermano sacerdote me decía que ahora hay que tener valor. hace falta.
Repito, si el Papa no quisiese cambiar las cosas, no habría intervenido en los últimos años como lo ha hecho. Ahora está en que nos dejemos como institución y no se manipulen más cosas. Va a haber gente que se va a resistir. Como dices, Dios siempre quiere. Tenemos que rezar y reparar mucho. Pronto empieza el año del sacerdocio y esto tampoco es casualidad. Dios lo quiere.
