Rome, December 15, 2009. The Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, has informed Fr Alvaro Corcuera, general director of the Legion of Christ, that the five apostolic visitators and other members of the Roman Curia met in early December. During that meeting, it was agreed that the visitators would finish their work by mid-March of 2010, in order to present their reports to the Holy Father. Any further steps and their timing depend on the Holy See.
We ask all our readers and friends to continue accompanying the visitors in their mission and all Legionaries of Christ with their prayers.

Looking at all the reports thus far, I cannot understand why the Holy See thinks that without a refoundation with outside assistance, this group can go forward. What healthy spirtuality and ideals can ever spring for from such sickening and tragic events as these? Why would the Pope think God would want to build on unrepented evil and deceit. No matter what smiling faces are showing, if no radical new beginning is made new and possibly worse demons will be born of this founder. How can one be coopted to materially collaborate in his evils and not be affected once discovered. I think every LC would deep down be grateful if the Pope would pull the plug. I think the dessertions would in fact be much higher if the LC were not so far removed from their place of origin, oceans and continents away at times from their families, boyhood pastors and home dioceses.
How do you know what the Holy See "thinks"?
What is new is that there is no 'spin' to this news item... which means that a)they have been warned in no uncertain terms that the days of twisting and altering things in their favour are over, and/or b) they're scared stiff.
Laus Deo!
Is this ending in March a sign the Visitation is over "early"? If early why? Because it is a whitewash or because they are in a rush to move on with certain 'reforms'. ER in previous thread alluded to a letter from Cardinal Bertone which is not this one but more recent, and that he speculates has more meat in it. Will be interesting to see it when it comes out.
On the contrary: it is a sign that the bishops are overwhelmed by the amount of evidence and have to work through it -plus the accountancy side of things, which cannot be unravelled so fast.
I wonder if it was a crazy RC lady that jumped the Pope?

Be informed that A. Corcuera has been offering sudden, blind, only private, undefined 'apologies' on the phone to some of our claimant exLC friends in Mexico and Spain. These are apologies that we cannot accept as such without certain conditions and without a clearly manifested will to, in a spirit of true contrition, repair the damages. Besides being Christian, we are citizens. And there are laws. The LC have always respected the laws that are convenient to them only.
I am truly disappointed that we never heard from Cassandra Jones again. Is CJ so deep on the inside of the LC that it is now impossible to comment? Is CJ withholding comment out of respect for the process of the Apostolic Visitation?
