Baltimore restricts the Legion of Christ
A surprise move by the Archbishop of Baltimore, Most Rev. Edwin Frederick O'Brien, concerning how the Legion of Christ and Regnum Christi can function in the Archdiocese. It would seem that there has been a problem of communication (re secrecy on the part of the Legion) and dangers presented by recruitment of minors.

Anyway, this had to happen sooner or later. This should be a letter the LC gets from EVERY bishop in the country, or world for that matter.

It would be nice to see more Bishops step and do the same, then the Legion would probably self distruct. That was a very stern notice
It would be interesting to know if the LC actually follows it, or goes into their habitual, trained-by-Maciel deceive and lie mode.

If an LC's lips are moving, and he's talking about the LC/RC, he's lying.

I am glad the Archbishop is addressing the spiritual direction issue with the youth. My son was in ECYD and received regular spiritual direction from a Legionarie. Once he expressed an interest in the priesthood they were all over him to have him attend the apostolic school. The Legionarie that gave me spiritual direction was also pressuring me to send my son to the apostolic school. They had pressured my son to the point of tears. He was only 12y.o. Fortunately, he has since received spiritual direction from other priest outside the Legion and has said that it has been a much more positive experience. He has also expressed his happiness in the choice to stay home to be with his brothers and sisters, something he would have missed. Can anything replace the love between the mother and father in the context of family?
