This is not an area covered by the charism of infalibility, nor can we presume inspiration. Will we trust their decisions? Do we trust the Church? That, I think is the real question at hand. The institution is flawed. Maybe it took the Maciel fiasco to make some aware of this. That is good! I say, check the history. Maciel is just one more fly in the spiritual ointment. That's it. This too shall pass.
